Yumbel is a town and commune of the Province of Bío-Bío in the region of the same name, Chile. It originated from the old fort of San Felipe of Austria, raised in 1585 by the then governor Alonso de Sotomayor, in the Centinela hill.

According to the 2017 census of the National Statistics Institute, Yumbel spans an area of 727 km2 (281 sq mi) and has 21,198 inhabitants.
