This Prison was built in the beginning of the 20th century. It replaces the ancient "prison des patriotes". The strange shape of the facility is created by building the prison under a panopticon style. Historically significant, it once was responsable for 80 hangings. It is still in operation today as a provincially operated detention center for men.
