The 1884 Wells Street Bridge is of Whipple through truss metal construction with elaborate Gothic ornamentation. The bridge is no longer open to vehicular traffic, but is today used as a pedestrian bridge on the Rivergreenway trail system. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
