Blue Lake, Mount Gambier (Mount Gambier)

Australia / South Australia / Mount Gambier

A lake located in the crater of the extinct Mount Gambier volcano. During the Australian summer (December to February), the lake appears to be a vivid blue colour, returning to a more normal colour for winter. this may be caused by the chemical composition of the lake's surrounding geology and volcanic residues.

  • The Blue Lake is just one of the lakes in the Crater Lake area. Walk to the top of the tower to meet Bob, the man in the tower!! Say hi to Bob as he looks out over the lakes and city of Mount GAmbier. Valley Lake is also great place to do walks around the craters of this old volcano.
