Here is a temple of early 13th century built by Karnāt dynasty, in which one can see entire Mithilākshara in a varna-mātrikā vritta around a shivalinga on which Rām-gāyātri is inscribed. It is the only place where entire ancient Mithilākshara alphabet can be found. This Shivalinga with Rām-gāyātri gave the name Shivarām which was the Kuladevatā of Karnāt kings. Their capital was Shivarāmgarh, which misguided historians assume to be in Terāi , but it was actually in the Qilāghāt of Darbhangā, the massive gate of this hindu fort was broken by Tughalaq Fauzdār for which he got the title Dar-bhangi; all hindus were either killed or expelled, and Shivarāmgarh became Darbhangā. If Qilāghāt is excavated, remains of this ancient Qilā can be seen.
