Qala'at Al Marqab is a quite a large and beautiful castle claimed to have been built originally by the Romans, later modified by the crosaders before falling to the Moslems. Called Marqab which means in Arabic "Observetry" since it sits on a high hill (750m high but still very close and overlooking the Medeterranean sea coast) was used to watch out for invadors. It has a little settlite tower almost at the beach (900m away) connected to it by an underground tunnel to try and maintain supplies and escape if surrounded. The structure is built by black stones from the area where it is built.
