Time Team has come to Rycote Park in Oxfordshire to try and find the remains of a great house which once played host to five reigning monarchs. The most spectacular of these occasions must have been when Queen Elizabeth the First came here on a state visit.
She’d have walked down this driveway past the stable block, and believe it or not, all of this was the stable block. She’d have had to cross a moat and once she was in the house, would have been escorted to a banqueting hall, where she’d have been lavishly entertained. And this, is where the great house should be.
And we’ve got just three days to find it, and unlock it’s secrets
