According to legend/rumor, this circle of trees was haunted by a Witch or Witches. Although the idea of witches may seem odd to some, many people believed in the validity of this particular site. According to local lore, a coven once practiced within this ring of trees long before the surrounding area was built into an Air Base.

The local dare: go to the ring on a dark, moonless night. Enter the ring, and by turning a slow circle, attempt an accurate count of the trees.

Took the dare, don't remember the count. ;-)
