The last of Glasgow School of Art's triumverate (the now-demolished Foulis Building and Newbery Tower were the first two) of new academic buildings which in the end, took 17 years to fully realise. Completed in 1979, the Bourdon Building embraced Brutalism at a time when the bare concrete style of architecture was rapidly going out of fashion.
