Saryozek was headquarters for the 68th. Brigade of the RVSN.

This is one of the three RVSN R-14 (SS-5) Missile Bases around Saryozek (there is also two Chusovaya Silo Launch Complex'es at Saryozek). This particular base is identical to the SS-5 base at Nigrande in Latvia (56°31’6” N 22°2’10”E).

Saryozek was also designated Missile Elimination Site for the TR-1 (SS-12 Scaleboard) and the R-400 Oka (SS-23 Spider) missiles, banned by the 1987 INF Treaty. At this site, 239 TR-1’s and 718 R-400’s were eliminated, under inspection by the Americans, as mandated by the INF Treaty.

If you zoom in on the green stuff at the South-Western corner of the base you can see that the “stuff” is really empty missile canisters, just lying around.

I will visit the site (if it is accessible).

Для ракеты в варианте 8К65У были созданы шахтные пусковые установки "Чусовая", конструктивно аналогичные ШПУ "Двина".
