Victorian building for conferences and functions. This building is historically significant as the first meeting place of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in 1868. It is now home to the Mechanic's Institute.
The Headquarters of the People's History Museum also occupies part of the building, containing a Textile Conservation Studio and the Labour History Archive and Study Centre. A Grade II* listed building.
