The origin of the name is Dirgha Nagar, this is the Dignagar village.
Jagaddhari Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year, 9 days after Diwali or Kalipaja, in the family of Bhagyadhar Bandyopadhyay. Almost the whole village gets invited to their house, where the present family head, Gangadhar Bandyopadhyay manages the event with efficiency. The Great "Chandni" of Dignagar is the identity of Dignagar or "Dirgha Nagar".
Vodafone and Airtel have built their towers in the village, however, the BSNL and Tata Indicom signals are very weak.
