Junam Wetland Park (Junam Reservoir)

In this area, more than 100 kinds of various birds, amounting to 10,000 to 20,000, are spotted. It is the place where winter migratory birds stay and summer migratory birds such as egrets rest and eat. In addition, many spectacled teals, which are registered in the red data list of the International Union of the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), stay here every year, amounting to 10,000 to 20,000, making this place an international hot spot for migratory birds.

It has many habitats plant encompassing 33 orders, 69 families, and 233 species including that of wild rice, wild walnut, common reed, lotus, Nymphoides peltata, reed, Echinochloa crus-galli var. oryzicola, Acorus calamus var. angustatus, willow, pickerelweed, water chestnut, and hornwort as well as the habitat for the Euryale ferox, which is of the endangered species designated by the Minister of the Environment.

Various insect species, about 170 of them, including the water beetle, live in the wetlands. Junam wetland park is a place where many insects live. As these insects become the prey of fishes, amphibians and birds, they play an important role of the primary and secondary consumers in the ecosystem.
