IJsland (Ísland in het IJslands) is een (ei)land, dat tussen Groenland en Europa in ligt. Het is omringd door de Atlantische Oceaan, de Straat Denemarken (tussen IJsland en Groenland) en de Noordelijke IJszee. Het noordoosten van het land ligt net binnen de poolcirkel. De hoofdstad Reykjavik ligt aan de zuidwestkust en is 's werelds meest noordelijke hoofdstad. IJsland is het meest westelijk gelegen land van Europa.
