Barangay Tandang Sora is formerly called Barrio Banlat, a former barangay part of Novaliches, Caloocan City and named after Melchora Aquino (1812-1919). She is also known as Grand Old Woman of Balintawak and one of the heroes who helped Andres Bonifacio for basic necessities and medicines in time of 1896 revolt of Katipunan against Spanish regime. She is popularly known as Tandang Sora during Spanish time.
