Akhara is my "Nanke" pind. I was born in this village, I have many beautiful memories of this place from my childhood. The house I was born in is now empty but I still visit it every time I go to Punjab. Last winter I showed my kids this village and the house I was born in...very special place in my heart. We walked around the "gallis" of the whole village, met so many people that knew me when I was a youngster.

Really it is universal truth that East or the West Birth Place is best. No body can forget his place of birth where he spent days of his childhood. Jatinder I appreciate that you have given your very beautiful comments about village Akhara. Thanks

Dear Mr. Nirmal Singh-ji - Thanks for the kind words. I asked my Nana-ji S. Tara Singh Bains about your family and he remembers you and remembers your father even more. He said your family used to live near the Gurudwara Sahib in Akhara. He is of old age now and had a stroke 4 years ago but his memory is very sharp. As soon as I mentioned that you had written about his pind on this website, he was very excited and cried at the same time. "You can take a person away from his pind but you can't take the pind away from the person." He lives in America but dreams of his pind every night. Regards - Jatinder
