Dingzhou is a county-level city with sub-prefecture-level city status in Hebei Province, it lies 50 kilometres south west of Baoding. It is famous for its long history and splendid culture. Since the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, Dingzhou has been the political, economic, military and cultural centre of the North. The Dingzhou mosque is one of the oldest mosques in China. It was rebuilt in 1348 during the Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368).
