Developed in the early 2000s, the Eddystone Crossings shopping center is a successful effort to revitalize the primarily residential, lower-middle-class town of Eddystone, Pennsylvania.
Most of the attention focused on the center's flagship store, Wal-Mart, which, at the time of its 2001 opening, was one of only two such units in Delaware County. The continued popularity of Wal-Mart managed to attract a number of retailers to take up shop elsewhere on the property. However, it could also be argued that Wal-Mart's infamous low prices and obvious proximity drove many of these retailers away after a short time.
Currently, a Shop-Rite supermarket serves as another main anchor business in the center. Other businesses include Radio Shack, McDonalds, and Popeye's Chicken. A Subway restaurant is located within the Wal-Mart building.
Former businesses include Blockbuster Video, Coconuts, Donato's Pizza, and Festival Foods Supermarket.
