This building was formerly The Prince William Henry Pub, this is now a builder merchants.

The old pub took its name from the time when King George III's third son, Prince William, dropped the tax on malt, leading to cheaper beer and the growth of the brewing industry. Before 1794 the pub was called the Green Dragon. Records show the name was changed to The Prince William Henry after the prince - later to become King William IV - raised a mug of ale there.

Brief history :-

* In 1821, James Harrat was the landlord and he was followed by John and Anne Brotherton.

* In May 2004, the pub was listed on a paranormal database after reports of phantom music, laughter and shadows of a stranger in its basement.
