Originally served by the Atlantic & North Carolina, then the orginal Norfolk & Southern Railway. Passengers could connect with mainline railroads in Goldsboro 45 miles west, and New Bern 18 miles east. The railroad also planned a southbound spur from this spot to Trenton. This right of way became a state dirt road instead. (Now county road 1001 and NC 41.)

The depot is currently occupied by a thriving local florist.
