The region of the high “Bierzo” has a great devotion to the Ecce Homo. In Bembibre is denominated “El Santo". The celebration (fiesta) dedicated to El Santo is from the 13 to the 17 of September every year. The Santo is also moved from the basilica to the church every seven years, remains in the church and returns to the basilica a week later. (this is called “La Salida del Santo”). The nearest exit was the 21 of June of 2008. The next "salida del Santo" will be on the year 2015.
