Berkswell is small West Midlands village and parish council just two miles north of Balsall Common and 6 miles west of Coventry, district of Solihull.
"The settlement at Berkswell probably dates from late Anglo-Saxon times. The North and East of Warwickshire, including the area of Berkswell, was ruled by the South Mercians, Angles, who had moved Southwards from the Trent. Berkswell takes its name from Berculs-well. Bercul was a Anglian chieftain."
The old heart of this popular village is carefully conserved, with its outstanding Norman church, former 17th-century rectory and Elizabethan Bear Inn. The stocks and whipping post stand on the village green, and a 19th-century four-storey windmill with most of its machinery intact has been restored to the south of the village.
