Prescott Methodist Church

USA / Massachusetts / New Salem /

A stone marker at this site marks the former location of the Prescott Methodist Church. Prior to the building of Quabbin Reservoir, the church was located in what was then North Prescott Massachusetts. In 1949, after Quabbin was created and the towns of Greenwich, Prescott, Enfield and Dana were dissolved, the church was purchased by the Prescott Historical Society and moved to Orange. In 1985 it was moved again to North New Salem, where it is now a museum on the grounds of the Swift River Valley Historical Society.

This photo shows the church in its present-day location.

A picture of the church when it stood in North Prescott can be seen on the Friends of Quabbin chronology web page: www.foquabbin.org/chronology.html .

Notice the steeple is now shorter than when the church was in North Prescott.
