Montauk Fire Control Tower

 Second World War 1939-1945, observation tower

Former WWII-era sub-spotting tower built adjacent to the lighthouse in 1942 as part of the Eastern Coastal Defense Shield. Spotters in the tower coordinated artillery fire for nearby Battery 112 and its two 16-inch guns.
