community, ghost town
Ghost town. Site of depot when Fort Worth & Denver Railroad came through in 1887. An attempt was made to move the town of Tascosa from its original site two miles north to here. Some businesses did move and by 1947 there were fifty residents and two stores here. Old Tascosa lost its status as county seat of Oldham County in 1915 and the last resident moved out in 1939, with the site of Old Tascosa being taken over by Cal Farley's Boys Ranch that same year. New Tascosa, however, failed to prosper and now shares Old Tascosa's status as a ghost town.
