  • Italian School for boys And Intergaz service station. Played there a lot and worked at the station many nights. I hated that place. My dada ran the thing and I was prisoner there most weekends nd nights. I remember Eiza, the Italian girl who used to live around the block. The most beautiful green eyes ever. I actually had a crush on her and in my mid forties I got erngaged to a girl and I eventually recalled that she reminded me of her (Thus the attraction), but this one had blue eyes. Oh Well, Blue, Green, I am single again so any color will do...

  • I myself am not an Italian , even though it is a great Honour & Privilege to be one ofcourse..and without doubt as the role of The Great Italians in whole Human history,& in many other ways ..and the heart of our christian faith symbolized by the VATICAN is there / I,my humble self & as an Armenian CATHOLIC born in BEIRUT/LEBANON 1947 / ,,,,Used ,back then in 1950s to visit, with my late Mother , her Lady friend & also to see her 2 sons my school mates, they used to live next to the Italian School , we used to hear other kids in the playground ..only a few meters high wall saperating us , and close to Hotel Bristol as i recall?? we use to enjoy sweet Italian sounds reaching our ears , as i was 8 years old and in 1955 i saw ( the Italian version) of Marcellino Pane et Vino and awestruck by that movie as a kid, so hearing such accent behind that wall was like ..reliving that great film?? pity how such great landmarks are vanishing in Beirut to give way to build towers of Babel(Babylonia)? its a great shame and disappointment for all of us not just the Italian community in Lebanon, we never forget that >> small in number ,but GIANT in contribution to that country<< for many many long decades .. even if that school may have gone ..but the echoes of those THEN CHILDREN still linger in our memories ?
