This was an intersection reconstruction that replaced a problematic Y-junction with a modern roundabout. Crashes have been reduced dramatically. This was NYSDOT's second modern roundabout (the first was at Thruway Exit 19 in Kingston). It was part of a larger project that extended from here to US 20.
