Located near Pellston, MI. Distinctively shaped like a smiling fish, the two bay areas in the 'tail' part of the lake (along the eastern shoreline) are called North Fishtail Bay and South Fishtail Bay. South Fishtail Bay is the shoreline along the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) which is a 10,000 acre forest preserve where University of Michigan students can attend outdoor, hands-on classes during the summer.
A good place to get a bite to eat with a good view of the lake is Douglas Lake Bar and Grill.
