House of Peter the Great (Riga)

Palasta iela 9 stands on the site of the former palace of Peter the Great, which was presented to him in 1711. It had been built at the end of the 17th century for the rich merchant Nikolaus von Hanaberg who attended the Dom school and then studied medicine at Königsburg. The present house was built in 1869. Of the original building only the foundations remain.
