Birnbeck Pier Lifeboat Station

There has been a lifeboat station on the island since 1882.

In the event of the pier collapsing and the lifeboat station was forced to move, 123 years of local RNLI history would be wiped out.

Fortunately the RNLI spent £20,000 back in 1999 to refurbish the lifeboat station..
