Ancient city of Tomebamba, capital of the "Cañari" empire. Santa Ana de los Cuatro Ríos de Cuenca is the third largest city of Ecuador, after Guayaquil and Quito. It is an important culture centre for the country and the most important city of austral Ecuador. It is the ecuadorian city with the best quality of life in the whole country and one of cities with the most literacy amount of the country.

Cuenca has got 4 rivers running inside of the city: Tarqui, Yanuncay, Machángara and Tomebamba. It's got the second largest historic centre of the country, considered as an UNESCO Human Heritage.
