Cidade Velha ("Old City", in english) is the oldest neighborhood of Belém do Pará, and the place where the city was born, after the arrival of portuguese pioneers in January 12th, 1616. It has several beautiful historical buildings, which are examples of portuguese colonial archtecture, beyond other european influenced styles. Its strait stone covered streets are, mainly, related to portuguese cities and brazilian personalities names.
