Built sometime between A.D. 700 to 1100, the round tower is the oldest surviving structure in the town of Kilkenny. It is a remnant of a monastery which, according to tradition, was founded by St Canice in the 6th century. The tower may be climbed to give a view of the surrounding city and countryside.
