At the beginning of 2003 some company INVES developed a project of a really exclusive 15-story building with exclusive 200-1000 square meters appartments just outside of the Mariinskiy Park. It was like a bad joke. But in 2004 all apartments were sold. The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko personally promised that this building would be demolished. But later INVES added seven more stories (22 all together). In summer 2009 there was no visible activity to show that someone actually lives there, but there are securities all over the place. And time to time some expensive cars comes and goes. Actual sign of that this place is really-really would be elite apartments is that second construction started nearby. This "project" shows the level of corruption and ruling against all laws in Ukraine. If someone wants the new monster building in the historical place he will get it, and words of the Mayor of the city and even President of the country doesn't mean nothing.
