Taihung Mountains straddle the ShanXi Plateau and the HeBei Plain and stretch south to the banks of the HuangHe River.They vary in height from 1,000 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The Taihang Mountain Range meanders for 500 kilometers across the territories of Henan, Shanxi and Hebei provinces. It is an important ecological screen for the North China Plain and source of water.
