With eleven uninhabited islands surroungding it, Gadeokdo is the biggest island in Busan, located west of the estuary of Nakdonggang River. The Geoga Bridge that will connect this island and Geojedo Island is under construction. On the cliffs of the East Coast, tens of thousands of camellia trees grow wild. the seashore, lined up with fantastic-shaped rock, is a superb tourist site, and also famous fishing places which anglers frequent to catch gray mullets, codfishes and herrings.
Busan New Port is under construction to regain the city's old reputation as the hub-port of Northeast Asia.
First, 3 ship-seats, out of 30, of container docks will be opened in Jan., 2006, and the rest will be completed by 2011, allowing the new port a handling capacity of 8,040,000 TEU containers a year.
