Administrative center for Tsuntinsky district 1992–2017. Population: 745 (2008); 752 (2010). The population in the district is 17,789 people (2002). Within the district the main dominant language is Tsez (Dido) but languages like Bezhta, Hinukh and Hunzib are also spoken. Second language is Avar which is the litereary language. Third language is Russian.
Population was moved in 1944, to the village of Ersenoy, Vedensky district. They were allowed to return in 1957, after the return of the Chechens from the deportation.
