"Convent of Hope", is the convent where we can find the very known statue of Santo Cristo dos Milagres!
It's here, where every year, in the 5th week after Easter, people celebrate the feast of Santo Cristo dos Milagres..the biggest Religious feast in the island, and the 2nd in Portugal..
there's a procission in honour of Him, that goes all around the principal streets in Ponta Delgada, it takes 3 hours and a half, and its when people 'pays' their own promises to Santo Cristo..
it s almost unreal what people do..it goes from paying the promisse in the procission without shoes and carry big candles, to make all the garden way in their knees carrying candles as well babies in their back!!
It's beautiful to see how people still holds to their hopes ans promises!...
