The United States Strategic Command is one of nine Unified Combatant Commands of the United States Department of Defense. Charged with space operations, information operations, missile defense, global command and control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, global strike and strategic deterrence and combating weapons of mass destruction, USSTRATCOM is organized to provide the President and the Secretary of Defense with a unified resource for greater understanding of specific threats and the means to respond to those threats as quickly as possible.
