Tonden is a village in the municipality of Brummen. The village is situated on the banks of the old IJssel stream. It doesn't have a real centre or shops. The main street is called Tondensestraat going east west, with the Voortweg as a south going street. Geographically, it is situated on a high bank of the river about 4 meters higher than the old river arm in the north.
