Sacca San Biagio (Venice)

Sacca San Biagio is an artificial island and of recent formation. It was in fact made between the thirties and fifties in the twentieth century as a result of rubbish accumulation as landfill and ash from the operation of an incinerator (1973-1985), now demolished.
