SESC Pompéia is an urban facility that contains theaters, gymnasiums, a swimming pool, snack bars, leisure areas, restaurants, galleries, workshops and other kind of services. This culture and sports center in an ancient barrel factory is arguably the most famous piece of architect Lina Bo Bardi. Inaugurated in 1976 it unalterably serves the local population as recreational space and is very well maintained. There’s a rich cultural program including exhibitions, concerts and theatre. The canteen and café serves food, snacks and drinks.
