Bokak Atoll (also known as Taongi Atoll).is the northernmost of the Ratak Chain of the Marshall Islands. It is uninhabited. The land area is 3.2 km2 (1.2 sq mi), and the lagoon measures 78 km2 (30 sq mi). It consists of 36 islets.The total area is 129 km2 (50 sq mi) (including reef flat). During the early 1940s it was used by the Japanese as a seaplane base. At one time it was considered as a possible nuclear test site by the United States.
