This is a symmetrical shaped building (almost like a cube). The division of room separated by corridors with the curved shape ceilings. The building was built in the reign of Sultan Hamengku Buwana I from February 13, 1755 until March 24, 1792. Panggung Krapyak consists of two floors. Both floors are connected with wooden stairs (stairs are now no longer exists). Upstairs is an open floor with a fence that is also made from wall surrounding.
It is said that this building was used as a place to shoot the animals. The animals were placed in the southern part of Panggung Krapyak. Besides being a place to hunt, the place was also known as a defense/surveillance place from the enemy soldiers.
