The peaceful and historic fishing village of Overton is south-west of Lancaster, close to Heysham and the mouth of the River Lune. The village occupies the site of a Roman settlement. The small village also boasts an ancient Church which has an open turret. There is a 17th century Inn called The Globe in the village, from where a one-mile tidal road crosses the sands to nearby Sunderland point.
