  This school began life as Beckenham County School, in Lennard Road, moving to the current site in the 1950s/1960s (someone provide the correct year please) under the name of Langley Park Grammar School for Girls. The school changed its status from grammar to comprehensive in the early 1970s, and the word 'grammar' was removed from the name. Throughout its life the school has been single-sex for the education of girls only, although it has had a co-educational sixth form (NC Yrs 12,13) since the 1980s.
