This restaurant is a former power plant. It began as a hydroelectric plant connected to the adjacent mill dam (the current bar), and
grew by the addition of a coal-fired power plant, with boilers and generators in the larger brick structure to the south. This plant
originally supplied power to the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Interurban railway, and it was one of the original plants owned by the
former Iowa Electric, which also owned the interurban. The view of the river from the restaurant is great, and in the winter, it is
common for diners to see bald eagles.
