  • You statement is absolutely incorrect. No one purchase Tain Settlement. It was sold by Bookers Sugar Estate to everyone who lived in Bound yard and FreeYard and were employed Port Mourant Sugar Estate. Bookers sold plots of land to each person for $1.00. This is a fact.. Do not distort it.
  • Tain Settlement you know today is not the original land disperse to Thakur Singh Tain.....across the Main Road ( where the Rice field sits)was the Original Tain Land Plot.....including the land (todays Tain Settlement)which was consider a reef by the Estate......under salt water, was part of the Land Sold to Thakur Singh Tain.....My Great Great Grand Father had promised the Estate to seek Development of Land Sectioned by the Estate; to restructure the Reef with Canals and private drainage system; fill it; sectioning into plots and sell .......that never happened......the Estate bought it...both sides and redistribute to the Indentured Labourers of the Estate....and named the Entire Land Sale as Tain Settlement........period........
  • I live in Tain, Scotland. Tain, Guyana was named by the Scottish settlers who had estates there in the 1700/1800s. Looking at Google Eath, there are many other places names in Guyana which come from my area of Scotland eg, Alness, Golspie, Tarlogie etc

  • I'm originally from Tain Settlement, Port Mourant, Corenyne, Berbice, Guyana .. My parents purchased our house lot from Bookers for $1.00 Guyana dollar. This was an agreement for all Bookers Sugar Workers (now Guysuco) from Port Mourant Sugar Estate who want to settle in Tain/Clifton/Johns area. The new community in Tain .. build the Tain Hindu MAndir, Tain Government School (now Tain Primary School) .. the Overhead Water Tank by Tain Koker.
