Xuanwu Lake is in the northeast portion of Nanjing. It is so named because of the legend that there is a black dragon with the name of Xuanwu lives in the lake. It is one of the three most famous lakes in Nanjing. The park covers a total area of 472 hectares, with 368 hectares of water surface and 103 hectares of land. There are five isles in the lake.: Huan Isle, Ying Isle, Liang Isle, Cui Isle and Ling Isle.
