History:

The founding of the town of Sudipen was an achievement realized in the militancy of the leadership of 12 men, as accounted in the research done by the teachers of Old Sudipen in 1955. It was an undertaking done for having not forgotten the value of freedom and independence being fought for by their forebears during the Spanish regime. Their petitions to have a town of their own for the sake of prosperity will ever be read in the annals of reports of local and national authorities, beginning from the last three decades of the 1800s to the last three decades of 1900s which are now also found in modern day historical documents. After them no set of men yet in the town could be found to equalize o encompass their wit and speed of leadership. The 12 men:

1. Anatalio Amoyen
2. Quitongan (Amoyen)
3. Bartolome Laoagan Apusen
4. Batallang (Degan)
5. Joaquin Bay-an
6. Agustin Busansog
7. Anastacio Busansog
8. Campiot
9. Rafael Dapig
10. Raymundo Gavina
11. Pang-ot
12. Quid-ing (Piaoan)

may not be seen in a concrete monument anywhere, but they caused the Township of Sudipen, then its making as a Municipal District.

  • The municipal officials of Sudipen know who made the research and compiled the history of the municipality. Give credit to whom it is due.
  • Kudos to the researchers and publishers of this information!!!!.. It gave us the proof that Amoyen clan really rooted from Sudipen and existed as one of the original residents of Sudipen.
  • nice work for the "teachers"who did the research.they helps us have a glimpse on the history of our beloved town Sudipen.
  • proud to know that my great-grand fathers Anatalio Amoyen and Quitongan(Amoyen)played a significant role in the making of Sudipen and now became as one of the beautiful towns of the Province of La Union.
  • I wonder why up to this time the comprehensive research about the history of the Municipality of Sudipen is still unavailable. It might be better is the same will be posted by the researcher who happens to be my sister.
